International Transfer Deadlines & Requirements

Any student who will need a visa to study in the United States, or who already holds a valid U.S. visa, will be considered as an international student.

A transfer student is defined as any applicant who has enrolled in courses at college or university after the completion of secondary school.

A first-year student is defined as any student who is currently enrolled in secondary school, or who has graduated secondary school but has never enrolled in post-secondary courses at a college or university. Go to International First-Year Admission Deadlines & Requirements.

Spring Admission

  • Deposit Deadline: Two weeks from date of admission decision

International Student Application Requirements

  1. Common Application
  2. $60 application fee
  3. Official test of English score report 
    Loyola accepts the following test of English scores:
    • 80+ on the  iBT, iBT Special Home Edition, or iBT Paper Edition
    • 6.5+ band score on the  or 
    • 9.0+ on the 
    • 115+ on the 
    Applicants must achieve a score at or above the minimums listed here in order to be considered for admission 
  4. Official high school/secondary school transcript 
    Transcripts not issued in English must be accompanied by a certified English translation. If the educational system is exam-based, then Official International Examination Results issued by the examination board are also required (e.g. WAEC WASSCE, CSEC & CAPES, GCSE/A-Levels).
  5. Official college/university transcript 
    Transcripts not issued in English must be accompanied by a certified English translation
  6. Transfer Student Conduct Form from each institution attended
  7. Official International Credential Evaluation 
    Applicants who attended college or university outside the U.S. must provide an Official International Credential Evaluation of their post-secondary transcripts. The course-by-course evaluation of international academic credentials must be completed by a , and must include a cumulative GPA. SpanTran, a NACES member organization, has created  for students applying to Loyola. This evaluation allows our faculty members to appropriately assess international transfer of credit. 
  8. International Student Certification of Finances 
    Applicants are required to submit the International Student Certificate of Finances at the time of application. 
  9. Bank Letter or Statement 
    Provide a current bank letter or bank statement, in English, dated within the last three months. The letter or statement should indicate a current balance. This document will be used in conjunction with the International Student Certification of Finances form in our need-aware review process, which allows us to consider international applicants for need-based financial aid. If you submit a bank letter, the document must be on bank stationary, translated in English, and signed by a bank official.
  10. CSS Profile 
    Applicants who wish to be considered for need-based aid must also submit the  at the time they apply for admission. When completing the CSS Profile, Loyola University Maryland's CSS School Code Number is 5370.

Submitting Academic Records and Test Scores

Academic records and test scores will only be considered official if they are received directly from the school or testing agency. An appropriate school official may submit these materials through the Common Application or by email to intladmission@loyola.edu as long as the official is using a school email address. Student-supplied copies of original IELTS Test Report Forms can be verified by the university online, and considered official.
